**The opportunity**:
The University of Manitoba is looking for an Analytical Technician. Reporting to the Research Development Manager, this position will operate and maintain the instruments, facilitating research in the area of metal and mineral analysis within the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences. The Analytical Technician may have opportunities to operate additional analytical instruments within the facility.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related discipline required.
- Three years of directly-related experience required.
- Experience working with ICP-MS or similar instruments will be an asset.
- Previous experience working in an analytical laboratory in an academic or industry setting is an asset.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Strong data management skills with the ability to operate sophisticated equipment required.
- Theoretical knowledge and practical experience with the functioning of laboratory equipment required.
- Effective time management, decision making, problem solving, and organizational skills required.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written required.
- Ability to set priorities, to multitask, to work independently as well as a team required.
- Must have the ability to exercise considerable independence in judgment and action and a high degree of tact, diplomacy and discretion required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
