**Qualifications**Required**
- Post-secondary studies in Human Resources management and/or commensurate experience in Human Resources strongly preferred
- General knowledge of various employment laws and practices preferred
- Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and HR database system
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills - relate well to people with a pleasant and professional demeanor
- Ability to gather data, to compile information, and prepare reports
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt in a fast-paced work environment
- Ability to take initiative and work with mínimal supervision
- Able to work independently and in a collaborative team setting
- Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Demonstrate a high level of confidentiality and professional boundaries

**Desired**

**Job Synopsis**
- The HR & Volunteer Program Assistant provides administrative and organizational support to the Human Resources Department. The duties will involve assisting with administrative documentation, data management, potential payroll assistance and other HR projects. This role will be broad based and supportive to various aspects of the HR team.
This is a part-time salaried position (18.75 hours per week) and is accountable to the Human Resources Director. The location is in the Abbotsford. Much of the role will require a physical presence in the office.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Data Management
- General filing, as needed
- Culling/archiving of alumni paper personnel files
- Sorting incoming HR mail

Volunteer Program Coordination/Management
- Assist with intake of new volunteers: interviewing, reference checking, uploading of documents in the volunteer database and entering data
- Maintain regular volunteer database tasks and assisting volunteer locations with database questions
- Connect in a friendly, professional manner with volunteers and staff at volunteer locations by electronic and interpersonal methods
- Assist with being responsive to training needs and facilitating workshops
- Report volunteer statistics

Administration
- Assist with posting job vacancies on external sites
- Assist with phone screens and reference checks
- Processing and maintaining current Criminal Record Check registry for all staff
- Assist with logistics related to orientations, as requested
- Assist with logistics and development of trainings, as requested
- Cross train with HR team members to be backup for key tasks

Social Committee/Staff Engagement
- Co-Chair the Staff Social Committee providing administrative support and coordination for employment engagement events for all employees (office socials, summer picnics, etc.), consulting with HR Director as required
