The Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology has a longstanding tradition of distinction in research and teaching. The mission of Dr. Berube’s research is to develop mouse models of neurodevelopmental disorders and characterize these models at the molecular, cellular and behavioural level.
**Responsibilities**:
**Qualifications**:
- Education:
- PhD in molecular and cell biology
**Experience**:
- 5 years of working experience in a related academic research environment with an independently developed research portfolio
- Experience with mouse husbandry
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- In depth knowledge of the Cre/loxP system with the ability to perform behavioural tests in mice
- Ability to perform large scale sequencing techniques including RNA-sequencing and ATAC-sequencing
- In depth knowledge of methods for research design, implementation, and analysis
- Familiarity with techniques for updating, managing and extracting data from a research database
- Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
- Communication skills to describe technical concepts effectively to both novice and sophisticated users and with an ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
- Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
- Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment
- Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the University’s events and activities
- Ability to provide guidance, support and feedback in a way that is positively received
- Results-oriented with the ability to motivate and coach employees to meet high performance standards, while working effectively as a member of the leadership team
- Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
