Fresh Routes is a registered not-for-profit social enterprise that increases access and consumption of healthy food in underserved neighbourhoods throughout Calgary and area. Our programs remove barriers (physical, financial, and educational) to sufficient, safe, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food in a manner that allows choice and maintains dignity. Our mission is to ensure that everyone has access to affordable, nutritious food and information to make healthy decisions. Our objective is to improve community health by reducing unhealthy food consumption by making healthy and affordable food more available to those who need it most. We believe that food is vital to the health of individuals and communities, and that access to good, healthy food is a basic human right.

The Fresh Routes’ Mobile Grocery Store is in essence, a fresh produce store on wheels. The purpose of each mobile market is to bring affordable, healthy, and fresh fruits, vegetables, and other food items to communities with limited access. The Route Operator is responsible for managing and maintaining the operations for a single day schedule for Fresh Routes’ Mobile Grocery Store. The Route Operator is an integral part of the growing team at Fresh Routes.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE PASSIONATE ABOUT INCREASING FOOD ACCESS AND WORKING WITH COMMUNITIES.

**Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities**:

- Drives vehicles and manages set ups at all stops along the daily route.
- Picks up daily restock and updates inventory system.
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with external stakeholders (community groups, agencies, and corporate partners), communicating the mission of Fresh Routes.
- Coordinates with the Operations Coordinator to ensure accurate and on-time delivery of contractual commitments.
- Works collaboratively with the Operations team to ensure all event staffing/volunteer needs are filled; provides supervision and training of volunteers.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Must have an interest in increasing food security and community building.
- Extremely dependable and feel comfortable working in a fast-paced environment;
- Demonstrated experience working with marginalized people and people of diverse cultures and abilities in a community-based setting;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and develop relationships, communicate effectively and gain the confidence of a wide range of people of diverse social and cultural backgrounds;
- Takes initiative and demonstrates ownership and exceptional follow-through.
- Enthusiastic team player with an ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Knowledge of/or passion for food-issues, sustainability or community building;
- Charismatic and socially-focused individual with in interest in making genuine connections;
- Customer service driven with a strong affinity for helping others;
- Physical stamina to meet demands of on-site event execution (being on feet for long hours, lifting, etc.)
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills and sound judgment;
**Other Job Requirements/Working Conditions**:

- Must be 25+ years old
- Schedule flexibility; ability to work evenings/weekends.
- A valid class 5 license, a clean driver abstract, and able to drive a vehicle in Alberta.
- 1 year of commercial driving experience required
- Able to routinely lift up to 40lbs.

Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
