**Responsibilities**:
The Statistician will be responsible for supporting the research mission within the Department of Medicine (DOM) in alignment with the DOM’s strategic plan. The role will support and collaborate with researchers to understand their statistical requirements, and provide information, consultation, and advice regarding the design of studies, including determining sample size calculations, performing quantitative data analysis and producing comprehensive statistical reports to enable robust conclusions. The Statistician will perform complex statistical analysis using software packages and have responsibility for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting a wide variety of research data to support various research projects within the Department. The Statistician will also take an oversight and leadership role of part-time Statistical Analysts in the Department of Medicine.

**Qualifications**:

- Education:
- Master’s Degree in Statistics, Biostatistics or another related field

**Experience**:
- 3 years' experience in a related academic research environment conducting statistical analyses for a variety of research projects
- Experience in SAS, Stat, SQL, R, MS Office Suite, SPSS
- Experience in techniques such as meta-analysis, network meta-analysis, multivariable regression and prediction modelling preferred
- Experience in health economic evaluations and quality improvement methods an asset

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- In-depth understanding and insight in statistics
- Knowledge of key statistical concepts and methods essential to finding structure in data
- Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and analyses
- Attention to detail with an ability to retrieve, analyze and synthesize sizable amounts of data, while ensuring that information is accurate and comprehensive
- Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
- Communication skills with an ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
- A desire to grow and advance skills, which is demonstrated by attending conferences, workshops and other professional developmental opportunities to enhance performance
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to produce concise and accessible analysis of complex data through the effective use of charts and tables
- Ability to organize, plan, manage and coordinate projects, with competing priorities that involve a variety of stakeholders
- Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
- Available to work outside standard business hours on occasion
