Newcomer Settlement Advisor

**About Us**:The Saint John Multicultural and Newcomers Resource Centre Inc. (SJMNRC) is a non-profit organization that provides an integrated approach to services for newcomers.
- Providing one-on-one orientation sessions, as well as workshops, to French speaking newcomers, either immigrants or refugees, so that they understand the role of the SJMNRC, take advantage of the services available to them including the support mechanism as they settle in Saint John.
- Referring clients to relevant programs both internally and externally, as per their needs and goals;
- Maintaining the internal database, external databases such as ICARE and writing reports as required and requested by supervisor and management;
- Meeting targets for the number of clients served as per internal key performance indicators;
- Organizing activities for newcomers to enhance their language skills in French, facilitate their social integration, and orientation to the city;
- Participating in local festivals and events that engage newcomers and promote multiculturalism.
- Developing and maintaining an up-to-date collection of relevant resources;
- Ensuring the dissemination of news to clients to appropriate services internally and with community partners;
- Collaborating with team on ongoing projects, as needed;
- Writing and contributing towards proposals and new initiatives;
- Maintaining durable, close relations with other organizations; and
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Three years of related experience;
- Post-secondary education (Bachelors Degree or Diploma) in the field of social sciences, humanities or related fields or a combination of experience and education;
- Bilingualism: French and English with a command in oral and written at a high level.
- High ability in using Information Technology including MS Office, G-Suite, CRM Software and online video conferencing software such as Zoom, MS Teams etc.
- Proven competence in interpersonal relations while working in a multicultural setting, demonstrating, among other qualities, flexibility, initiative, integrity, organizational awareness, creativity and autonomy;
- Knowledge of the needs of multicultural communities;
- Work experience with non-profit organizations is an asset;
- Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team;
- Multilingualism is an asset.

**Description du poste**: Relevant du responsable de l'établissement des francophones, le conseiller en établissement des nouveaux arrivants (francophone) est responsable d'établir et de fournir des services en français, d'offrir ces services d'établissement en personne, par courriel et par téléphone et de fournir des informations sur les services essentiels pour tous les francophones nouveaux arrivants. Le conseiller en établissement des nouveaux arrivants (francophone) est également chargé d'aider au recrutement et à la formation de bénévoles qui aideront au processus d'établissement ainsi qu'à effectuer des tâches administratives. Les tâches spécifiques comprennent:

- Offrir des séances d'orientation individuelles, ainsi que des ateliers, aux nouveaux arrivants francophones, qu'ils soient immigrants ou réfugiés, afin qu'ils comprennent le rôle du SJMNRC, profitent des services à leur disposition, y compris le mécanisme de soutien à leur installation à Saint-Jean;
- Orienter les clients vers des programmes pertinents tant à l'interne qu'à l'externe, selon leurs besoins et leurs objectifs;
- Maintenir la base de données interne, les bases de données externes telles que ICARE et rédiger les rapports requis et demandés par le superviseur et la direction;
- Atteindre les objectifs pour le nombre de clients servis selon les indicateurs de performance clés internes;
- Organiser des activités pour les nouveaux arrivants afin d'améliorer leurs compétences linguistiques en français, faciliter leur intégration sociale et leur orientation vers la ville;
- Participer à des festivals et événements locaux qui engagent les nouveaux arrivants et font la promotion du multiculturalisme;
- Développer et maintenir une collection à jour de ressources pertinentes;
- Assurer la diffusion de l'information aux clients vers les services appropriés en interne et avec les partenaires communautaires;
