We are looking for a person specialized in Health and Safety to join our team.

**Primary purpose of the position**

Supports the plant environmental, health and safety (EHS) function. Ensures the plant EHS function meets Ball’s overall environmental health/safety plans and objectives, driving the organization towards outstanding safety performance.

**Essential Responsible Areas**:

- Support and administers continuous improvement of EHSMS (EHS Management System) Elements and BOE Pillar Elements.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure work environment. This includes correcting unsafe acts/conditions, facilitating monthly JHSC, Safety Steering Committee and BOE Safety meetings, performing monthly safety inspections/audits, and investigating accidents/managing corrective actions, as required.
- Performs and administers plant environmental, health and safety processes, such as accident investigation, lockout/tagout, confined space, safety audits, etc.
- Revise, develop and implement EHS policies, SOPs, work Instructions, procedures and various communication materials as required.
- Facilitates training on EHS initiatives, new hire orientation, and required Ontario Occupational Health Safety Act and Regulation training.
- Plan, initiate and support corporate and local engagement initiatives with internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Maintain EHS databases including Incident Investigation, Contractor Orientation, EHS Training and Enablon data entry.
- Enforces procedures and drives awareness regarding labelling, storage, spills or disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
- Understands and remains current on Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and Environmental requirements.
- Compiles and prepares data to support EHS Manager regulatory reports preparation
- Maintains and monitors plant environmental, health and safety activities including, but not limited to SDS files, hazard communication program, environmental educational programs, hazardous waste program, hazardous materials program, air program, wastewater discharge program, etc.
- Timely and effectively communicates with Ball personnel and federal, state, and local authorities on environmental, health and safety compliance issues.
- Supports the EHS Manager for agency and company environmental, health and safety inquiries, inspections, audits, construction projects and community concern communications.
- Maintains thorough familiarity with all aspects of the facility’s emergency contingency plan.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Position Requirement & competencies**:

- Broad training in a related field usually acquired through college, specifically a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial/Environmental Engineering or Environmental Health and Safety
- Minimum of 1 year of EHS experience in manufacturing or construction industry is required. 3 years of experience would be preferred.
- Experience with of Ontario OHS Act and Regulations.
- Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) designation preferred
- Familiarity of the following areas: environmental regulations, legal practices, Ontario OHS Act and Regulations requirements, environmental principles, practices, nomenclature, and procedures, generally accepted managerial practices and procedures, and company policies, procedures, and products.
- This position regularly requires a high degree of mental effort due to considerable interruptions and/or frequent changes of activity or workloads during a typical working day.
- Works in both office and manufacturing environments.

**Compensation & Benefits**
- **Hiring Salary Range**: $ 25$/h
