The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Bureau Commander, Business Management Bureau seeks a qualified individual to provide statistical services to the OPP, including analysis of police data and dissemination of statistical reports for internal and external use, informing organizational performance and meeting regulatory and legislative obligations. To design data analysis and business intelligence methods in areas such as criminal justice, traffic and road safety, community satisfaction and engagement, resource deployment and other critical policing data domains.

Research, Planning and Analysis Section provides program and financial analyst services including the development of Treasury Board submissions and briefing notes; development of Annual Program Review, Renewal and Transformation notes; workload analysis through Daily Activity Reporting; statistical analysis; survey development; project support including, research, planning, consultation, and program evaluation; and strategic financial and business planning.

**How do I qualify?**:
**Mandatory**:

- Ability to pass an OPP background/ security investigation.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**: Knowledge of research methodology and statistical concepts, and analytical skills including quantitative and qualitative survey-collected and administrative data to perform statistical analyses and provide statistical and technical support and work on large, complex statistical studies.

Knowledge of relational databases, data collection and statistical analysis software such as SQL, MS-Access, MS-Excel, Visual Basic, SAS and SPSS and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint to prepare summaries, documentation and presentations.

Knowledge of survey software such as Survey Monkey and business intelligence platforms such as Microsoft Power BI and IBM Cognos BI.

Oral communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to provide advice and guidance on design of studies and collection of data, interpretation of results, and presentation methods.

Interpersonal skills to collaborate and liaise with personnel from other policing agencies and present results on special projects and to obtain information related to statistical precedents and trends on justice programs.

Written communication skills to prepare project documentation, summarize study results.

Analytical and research skills to provide statistical and technical support and advice on statistical studies and research activities.

Analytical and problem solving skill required in surveying and program evaluation when devising operational definitions for performance or outcome measures, developing and executing procedures and methods to gather relevant data and computing the appropriate statistics and summarizing the results.
