**Salary**: $55,000
**GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for supporting the Food & Beverage Manager in many of the daily duties of our operations, provides professional leadership and direction to all related personnel and assume the F&B Manager duties in their absence. The Assistant F&B Managers primary work is in the food & beverage department within their respective campus, however they will also lend support to the Director, Hospitality and the rest of the leadership team where necessary
**ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE**
The Assistant F&B Manager directly reports to the Food & Beverage Manager and works in tandem with the Food & Beverage Supervisor(s). The Assistant F&B Manager will oversee all part-time staff in their department.
**SCOPE AND NATURE**
Sheridan’s SSU is a recognized college committee comprised of SSU student Directors, SSU employees and the Dean of Student Services. The Corporation approves funding allocations for the Student Activity Fee and is responsible for developing organizational policies and procedures.
It is the goal of the Sheridan Student Union employees to make the center a pleasant, professional stress free location for the student to come and get information. The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager will work with the Food & Beverage Manager, Director of Hospitality, the operational leadership team, and all outlet, bar and restaurant staff to ensure a high level of satisfaction among all customers, employees, and all other guests.
**SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES**
The Assistant F&B Manager covers a wide variety of responsibilities in the daily operations of the SSU food services and may be modified from time to time by management. It is important to note that not all functions and duties are contained within this definition, and the position itself should be ever changing and adaptive. Nevertheless, specific roles and responsibilities allocated to this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Work load 90% floor / customer service - 10% administrative (including but not limited to scheduling, payroll, ordering, inventory, safe counts, deposits, till counts / maintenance, etc.)
- Opening / closing the building
- Supervision of all food & beverage staff to ensure quality and efficiency (cooks, bar staff, service staff, and supervisors)
- Customer service - interacting with customers alongside part time staff and helping wherever necessary in the outlets / kitchen / bar / catering
- Assisting in hiring, training, disciplining / coaching, scheduling staff and inputting payroll when required
- Properly handling of any issues that may arise between the customers and the staff (or between staff members) ensuring for a favourable outcome with both parties
- Kitchen duties (including but not limited to baking / preparing food required in the outlets or catering when required, working the kitchen line, etc.)
- Ensuring proper safe food handling
- Ensuring established standard of cleanliness and safety is maintained (PPE use, sanitation, etc.) and recorded when necessary / required
- Ensuring the equipment is working properly, if not, immediately informing the Food & Beverage Manager or Director of Hospitality so it can be rectified as quickly as possible
- Ensuring secure areas remain secure and safe (ie., back offices, tech room, liquor room etc.)
- Maintaining a good relationship with fellow staff members as well as the Sheridan community
- Act as a liaison between team members and management
- Coordinate daily ordering / receiving deliveries (observing proper “FIFO” rules), inventory, and par levels with F&B Manager
- Assisting in the development of new menu items in conjunction with F&B Manager & Director, Hospitality Services on an on-going basis
- Assisting in ensuring that the equipment is properly working, maintained, updated & fixed when required (including POS, Debit & One Card terminals)
