**Summary**:
As the Principal Food Scientist, Sauces and Dressings, you will make a positive contribution, enabling Griffith Foods Canada to continue to grow and operate in an effective, efficient, and profitable manner. Propose original ideas for new research projects and/or solutions to moderately complex problems involving a high degree of creativity and ingenuity. Required to manage multiple tasks and projects. Must possess strong product development skills and act as a trainer to more junior scientists.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Reports to the R & D Management Level, conducts scientific experimentation contributing to new knowledge, products, or technology.
- Responsible for the successful implementation and completion of R & D projects.
- Demonstrates a superior understanding of food ingredient knowledge and functionality.
- Leads multiple priorities, projects, and timelines concurrently.
- Uses technical and problem-solving skills to approach complex projects.
- Works with considerable independence, exercising ingenuity and judgement in the approach to tasks. Responsible for the design, planning, execution, and reporting of experiments and projects of considerable complexity.
- Executes detailed recommendations for new products, processes, techniques, or solutions to problems.
- Maintains good laboratory records and provides reports, tables, graphs, product information, presentations, etc.
- Communicates professionally to all departments of Griffith Foods, clients, and suppliers as required. Have established relationships with clients.
- Establishes a level of understanding of Griffith Foods’ commercial segments, product categories and customers to support solutions that serve both segment and broader organizations goals. Collaborates cross functionally with members of the Sales, Culinary, Sensory and Marketing teams.
- Lead in production trials of new processes or manufacturing procedures.
- Travel as required.
- Lead plant personnel in the use of instruments and equipment.
- Lead in product presentations.
- Troubleshoots and processes improvement of production lines.
- Evaluates competitive products and participates in sensory evaluations.
- Acquires and maintains the necessary technical skills and scientific knowledge through reading and training in new technologies and shares/updates/educates the group and/or participates in industry associations or activities where possible.
- Working knowledge of regulations and food safety.
- Participates in special projects, other duties or tasks that may be assigned as required.
- Ensures the health, safety, cleanliness, and security of the work environment.
- Ensures compliance with all product safety, legality, and quality requirements.

**Requirements**:

- 7+ years of Research & Product Development experience within the food industry, preferably related to development and manufacturing of Sauces and Dressings-required
- Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Chemistry, or relater technical degree-required
- Training or Knowledge of Culinary Techniques and Health and Nutrition-required
- Ability to operate specialized processing equipment and instruments is preferred.
- Working directly with manufacturing facilities and customers
