**Overview**
The City of Chilliwack Operations Department - Underground Utilities and Electrical Mechanical Divisions requires two labourer I (Time Duration) positions to assist the departments through reliable performance in semi skilled labourer duties.
**Are** **you** **the** **one** **we’re** **looking** **for?**
We are looking for individuals who have experience in the civil construction field, management in the efficient operation in the Department through reliable performance in operation of equipment assigned; performing daily driver inspections and minor maintenance ensuring the equipment is operable and operated in accordance with recognized and acceptable practices.
In order for you to succeed in this role, you will need to have the following requirements and skills:
- Experience in non and semi skilled tasks associated with labourer duties;
- Courses and/or experience in a variety of skills and trades such as pipe fitting/laying, plumbing, welding, minor electrical repairs, would be preferential;
- Experience and or knowledge of the practices and procedures used in the City’s sewer collection and water distribution would be considered an asset.
- Some experience with the inspection, maintenance and operation for all water, sewer and drainage facilities and equipment;
- A Class 3 Licence or Class 5 with Air Brake Endorsement would be considered an asset;
- Experience in the operation of a rubber tire backhoe or excavator is desirable;
- Able to communicate effectively with supervisors, staff, property owners and the public;
- Work effectively and efficiently with mínimal supervision.
