**Compensation**: Level 1 Supervisor $30.62/hour or dependent upon current Supervisory level at Schoolhouse Playcare Centres of Durham

We offer full-day childcare, before and after-school programs, licensed home childcare and summer camps. **The Position**
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Child Care Centre Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Centre, ensuring management practices that reflect the philosophy of the organization, that promote quality early childhood education and care, that provide a safe and supportive work/play environment, that promote positive relations with families and partners, and that demonstrate sound financial management processes.
**Responsibilities**:
▪ Implement a philosophy of early childhood education and care that reflects SPCs philosophy, HDLH? and DROC
▪ Ensure all applicable legislation and regulatory requirements, as well as the policies and procedures of Schoolhouse Playcare Centres of Durham, are met consistently
▪ Work in partnership with families, external agencies, school staff and administration and colleagues to ensure an inclusive environment for families and children
▪ Coach and mentor educators to improve skills/competencies, enhance program quality and improve the child/family experience, manage performance gaps in a timely manner
▪ Identify, coordinate and/or facilitate ongoing professional learning, staff meetings and resources for the supervisory and educator teams
▪ Create a safe environment that encourages open communication and feedback. Maximize the talents and strengths within the team and recognize accomplishments
▪ Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills
▪ Excellent planning and program facilitation skills
▪ Ability to coach, train and develop team members and positively lead the team
▪ Excellent collaboration and team skills
▪ Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
▪ Professional work ethic and ability to maintain confidentiality
▪ Enthusiastic, positive, and fun
▪ College Diploma or University Degree in Early Childhood Education, and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
▪ Minimum of 3 years RECE experience. Experience as a supervisor in a licensed child care program an asset
▪ Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C qualifications
▪ Experience and/or sound knowledge of children’s needs and development
▪ Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally with parents, children, colleagues and external agencies
▪ Strong leadership skills, including ability to effectively manage change
▪ Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
▪ Sound knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act, How Does Learning Happen, Early Learning for Every Child Today and Durham Region Operating Criteria
▪ Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Office, and Microsoft Outlook
