**Job Overview**:
123Dentist is hiring for a Finance Manager to join our dynamic, diverse and growing team. A core business of 123Dentist is acquiring and merging dental practices which is a constant and regular part of the company’s activities. Based on this objective, the Finance Manager supports the Director of Finance in the areas of acquiring Dental Professional Corporations (DPC) for accounting purposes and dealing with post-closing settlements. This is a role that requires a strong business understanding of cutoff procedures and processes particularly with accounting transactions in terms of how they relate to Financial Statements at closing to the eventual wind up of the DPC with close monitoring. This position will communicate directly with the previous dental practice owners that are part of 123Dentist along with their accountants. Furthermore, the position will assist in project initiatives of financial technological systems processes and procedures enhancements for the entire company.
**Responsibilities and Duties**:
- Oversee and manage two (2) Project Accountants daily for their transactional responsibilities
- Assist and develop relationships with previous dental practice owners and their accountants starting with involvement in the initial introductory and integration calls with them eventually to fully lead some of them
- Work closely with dental practice accountants to determine final cash settlements of working capital based on closing Financial Statements to pay or get reimbursed by the previous dental practice owners. This requires the full review and audit the Financial Statement activity from close to when the final cash settlement is agreed
- Develop a full understanding from the previous dental practice owners and their accountants to determine the value of the assets being purchased in terms of the working capital settlement along with how those liabilities are to be settled to conclude a practical and logical cash settlement
- Collaborate with Regional Managers and Office Managers at the dental practices for gathering and understanding data and reporting to generate post-closing Net Accounts Receivable settlement statements, work closely with the Revenue Accounting team to determine partial settlement of A/R collections
- Maintain a platform and processing of timely accounting and reconciliation of post-closing acquisition settlement transactions of purchased dental practices. Develop and maintain proper project tracking schedules to maintain compliance of all practices
- Generate reports that calculates and defines the value of accounts receivables collections on a monthly basis for the previous ownership of dental practices so those funds can be remitted back to them
- Track and monitor post-closing expenses so they are attributed to the proper party of either the previous ownership dental practices or 123Dentist
- Monitor the post-closing incoming cash flows for 123Dentist for the proper accounting and tracking so those funds will be recovered from the previous ownership dental practices
- Develop proper documentation, manuals, and training materials so knowledge can be shared and transferred to other members of the accounting team
- Assist the Director of Finance in developing policies, procedures and standardization in dental practice acquisitions and post-closing settlements
- Assist the Controller group in special quarter and year-end accounting deliverables such as work in progress calculations, unearned revenue, accrued revenue and inventory count and valuation projects
- Assist in driving the implementation of many Finance and Accounting technological systemization projects for greater efficiency and improvements for accounting processes and procedures
- Others ad-hoc tasks and projects as requested
- Other duties as assigned by your leader or executive
**Education, Credentials, Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting, Commerce of Business Administration, from a recognized and accredited institution.
- CPA designation required
**Required Skills & Abilities**
- Previous experience working in a multi-provincial organization in Finance
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with an ability to adapt and interact at various levels throughout the organization
- Adaptable and approachable with a strong understanding of the business
- Exposure to a rapidly growing transaction oriented multi-site environment preferred
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Sound business knowledge and strong technical accounting reconciliation skills to understand complex reconciliations
- Ability to balance conflicting responsibilities while meeting deadlines
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Working knowledge of ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred
- Capable of managing a heavy workload
- Able to deal with people ethically, honestly and with integrity
