**A Day in the Life **

Reporting to the Manager, Pension & Benefits, the Pension & Benefits Administrator (Jr.) will primarily focus on supporting the successful administration of the Brock University Pension Plan, with secondary support of the employee benefits program to follow. The Administrator is accountable for accurate and efficient management of pension and benefits data, aids in pension and benefits reporting and analytics, and supports communication, promotion and coordination of pension and benefit programs.

**As the** **Pension & Benefits Administrator (Jr.), you will**:

- Respond to general employee and pensioner questions regarding benefit and pension plans;
- Provide guidance to employees regarding procedures for enrollment, departing University employment, and updating information related to the pension and benefit plans;
- Initiate communication with employees as necessary to ensure records related to the pension and benefit plans are complete and accurate;
- Support the employee offboarding and absence processes, ensuring employees have all necessary communication, updating systems, preparing pension options and maintaining accurate records;
- Reconcile pension and benefits contributions/premiums, and other related data for each payroll cycle;
- Reconcile data and prepare reports for key dates to support fiscal, tax and plan year-end processes;
- Reconcile monthly statements and reports from third-party vendors (e.g. custodian, fund managers, benefit carriers);
- Maintain pension and benefit systems to reflect changes in benefit elections, dependent information, beneficiaries etc.;
- Prepare and organize documentation to assist with internal and external audits related to employee benefits and pension plan;
- Support pension and benefit projects including, but not limited to, research and summarization of findings, implementation and testing of system changes to configuration as needed (e.g. new system functionality and upgrades).

**What you need to Succeed**
- An undergraduate degree in Business or Human Resources related field;
- A minimum of one to two years’ experience in an administrative environment;
- Accuracy and attention to detail with strong written communication skills;
- Ability to work both independently under mínimal supervision and as part of a team;
- Demonstrated tact, diplomacy, and ability to maintain confidentiality;
- Ability to troubleshoot discrepancies and investigate and rectify discrepancies in data;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task.

**Preferred or Asset Skills **
- Experience in a Human Resources setting;
- Benefits certification (i.e., Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS)); and
- Experience in a unionized and non-unionized environment.

**Salary and Benefit Information**
- Job Grade (J), Salary Scale ($52,920.00 - $90,720.00)*;
- Target Hiring Range: $52,920.00 - $55,000;
- This position includes full comprehensive benefits.
