As a Licensing Officer Supervisor, you will utilize your solid leadership and team-building skills to maintain and enhance a strong and effective team that embraces and adapts to change. You will engage your team by setting both individual and unit goals and providing ongoing case consultation and reflective practice supervision. The Licensing Officer Supervisor position directly supervises Licensing Officers involved in all areas of Child Care Licensing, including intake, licensing, and monitoring of Child Care programs. These areas are inter-related with Federal, Provincial and Municipal complex legislation, policies, and procedures.

The client groups most impacted by the activities of the Licensing Officer Supervisor are the Licensing Staff, license holders, community agencies and families/children in receipt of services provided through licensed and approved facilities. In addition, the program interfaces and works in tandem with other areas of Child Intervention (CI).

The childcare licensing process is interconnected to complex municipal and provincial legislation, policies and procedures regarding health and safety.The Licensing Officer Supervisor is required to develop strong, collaborative relationships with allied professionals and stakeholders.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

- Supervision and Leadership of Staff:

- Participate in the recruitment, orientation and training of new and current staff as required.
- Promote professional development for all staff.
- Establish team and individual objectives, monitor, and evaluate performance.
- Promote, build and maintain positive relationships and support collaboration amongst the regional and provincial.
- Relationship Management and Communication:

- Identify the needs of a range of stakeholders and emerging issues in the Region.
- Identify emerging issues in the Region/sector, assess potential impacts and recommend and implement mitigation strategies to support licence holders, the Family Day Home Program and child care programs.
- Service Delivery: Monitor and review documentation and activities of staff to ensure services are delivered in a strength based, pro-active manner and adhere to the Early Learning and Child Care Act and Regulation including Ministerial and Regional policies and procedures.
- Community Liaison: Develop and maintain effective partnerships with Municipalities, Police and RCMP.
- Complaint/Incident Investigation: Determine the course of action for all investigations, notification to proper authorities and follow up procedures.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
Bachelor’s Degree in social work, Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care or related field and 3 years related experience or a Diploma in Social Work, Early Childhood Education or related field and 4 years related experience. Demonstrated supervisory skills while working in the childcare field is an asset. Equivalencies may be considered.

**Note**: Equivalency for professional roles related to Child Intervention: Directly related degree or diploma, successful completion of in-service or comparable training and 2 years directly related experience.

**Successful applicants must also have a valid Alberta Drivers License and access to reliable vehicle, as the role requires travel.**
- Familiarity with Legislation, such as Early Learning and Child Care Act, Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act.
- Knowledge of Early Child Development
- Experience in leading diversified teams.
