POSITION**:SHELTER COORDINATOR/FUNDRAISING COORDINATOR**

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accountable to the Business Manager and Board of Directors for managing the day-to-day operations of the Animal Shelter; ensuring the welfare of the animals while implementing the Policies & Procedures, as determined by the Board.

Also, ensures the implementation of Short & Long-term Strategies in line with our Mission Statement.

DUTIES:

- Ensure the well-being of the Shelter Animals by helping to provide a comfortable and clean Shelter with proper food, water, and Veterinary Care.
- Perform all Administrative functions related to the Adoption & Surrender of Animals, Donations, Memberships, Dog Licensing (for the city), Dog Boarding, and Volunteer Applications under the direct supervision of the business manager. Maintain Pet Records of all Pet Activities.
- Respond to phone calls and internet inquiries for the Shelter.
- Assist Customers in the Reception area
- Ensure Website is up to date
- Update social media with events, memberships & adoptions.

Work with other organizations to ensure best care and proper placement, due to needs.
- Ensure that sick Animals get timely care from a Veterinarian; arrange the medical treatment (spay/neuter, Vaccinations, medical appointments etc..) of all animals in the Society’s care, as well as (in conjunction with a Veterinarian and the Business Manager) the euthanasia of animals that are terminally ill and/or are suffering or are deemed not adoptable because of dangerous aggression.
- Perform intake duties on all new animals entering the Shelter by de-worming, flea-treating, and vaccinating, as well as thorough checking of eyes, ears, nose and mouth for any potential problems. Administer any necessary medications.
- Monitor Animal Feed, Supplies as well as Operating Supplies to ensure adequate stock on site. Make arrangements with Business Manager for reorder when stock is low.
- Liaise with other Shelters as well as the Elliot Lake and Blind River Food Banks to distribute the Shelters overstock of food.
- Overseeing the Bingo Events including Bingo Reports, Bingo Volunteer Scheduling and attending monthly Bingo Meetings.
- Assist Business Manager with weekly deposits
- Review Volunteer Applications as well as training Volunteers accordingly.
- Communicate with the business manage any issues or concerns pertaining to the shelter and it’s property as well as the vehicle.
- Take reservations for boarding clients ensuring vaccines are up to date.

Memberships
- Review current membership program and outreach methods
- Research and develop membership program to increase memberships
- Develop and Implement membership drive in Elliot Lake and the North Shore
- Explore the use of valued items that would encourage memberships and loyalty

Fundraising and Events

Work in collaboration with the Business Manager to:

- Gain knowledge of existing events that occur in Elliot Lake in general
- Research what other charitable organizations are doing to sustain themselves and what their funding sources are
- Review historical and existing event based activities of the Society
- Research and Develop new fundraising events for the Society
- Implement new fundraising events
- Assist in the development sustainable fundraising events
- Attend and manage existing Fundraising Events
- Tracking and record keeping of financials for each event
- Networking at events to develop relationships and opportunities

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $17.50-$20.00 per hour

**Education**:

- Secondary School (required)

**Experience**:

- supervisory: 1 year (preferred)
- computer skills: 1 year (preferred)
- animal care: 1 year (preferred)
