**CDES Custodian2/Janitor6**:
Cambridge District Elementary School

2 hours per day Custodian and 6 hours per day Janitor

(8 hours total)

Vacant Position

Effective immediately

Rate of Pay as per CUPE Collective Agreement ($20.62 per hour)

Terms and conditions of employment, including wages, are in accordance with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Collective Agreement Local 3876.

**Qualifications and Abilities**:

- Have a thorough knowledge of building systems
- Be able to recognize safety hazards throughout the premises.
- Possess the knowledge and skills to perform the required duties.

**Responsibilities**:

- Inspection of electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Inspection of playground equipment and sports facilities.
- Maintain safety equipment and follow safety procedures.
- Perform janitorial duties as required (indoors and outdoors).
- Order and monitor proper use of custodial supplies.
- Perform minor repairs as required including but not limited to window replacement, screens, desks, lockers, mechanical and electrical.
- Arrange physical/facility requirements for school events, rentals, etc.
- To identify and report major maintenance requirements.
- Clean on a daily basis, all assigned areas of the school in accordance with the established practices and standards.
- Obtain and maintain sufficient supplies on hand to carry out duties and responsibilities.
- Report any breakdowns, accidents, damage or vandalism to the appropriate supervisor.
- Secure all doors and windows whenever the building is vacated and activate security system if last person to vacate building.
- Perform floor care duties, such as stripping, sealing, waxing, burnishing, etc.
- Perform snow and ice control duties as needed.
- Pick up litter and trash from yards, driveways, parking lots and walkways on an ongoing basis with general clean-ups.
- Perform duties in compliance with school, Operations Department, and Board policies and procedures including Occupational Health and Safety, attendance, work routines, WHMIS, and evacuation plans and the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia.
- Other related duties as assigned.
