The Visitation Screener reports to the Companion Services Coordinator. This role performs a variety of duties to provide a welcoming, informative and respectful presence at the site entrance ensuring the maintenance of specific procedures for safety and infection prevention & control related to the orders of the Provincial Health Officer.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
1. Greets and communicates with all individuals presenting at the site entrance including visitors, delivery drivers and contractors to verify their access is authorized.

2. Supports the safety of residents, their families and team members by communicating information about visitor limits and restrictions in a respectful and informative manner. Enforces restrictions and follows relevant safety/security and violence prevention/de-escalation procedures.

3. Screens all individuals by asking questions regarding potential symptoms following established symptom screening question scripts. Verifies identity and vaccination status, takes temperature and provides a medical mask to each visitor.

4. Reinforces site hand-hygiene practices and reminds individuals to adhere to safe physical distance guidelines when navigating common areas and entering and exiting elevators.

5. Fields inquiries and assists with directing individuals to areas such as the concierge desk.

6. Reports any safety and security incidents to Coordinator or designate and other site personnel as required, and completes documentation in accordance with established protocols.

7. Sets up and maintains a clean workspace by following established cleaning procedures including wiping down areas and equipment such as tables, thermometers, hand sanitizer stations, pens and phones using disinfectant. Ensures supplies are at adequate levels.

8. Follows current direction and criteria for own usage of personal protective equipment (PPE) and hand-hygiene.

9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:
1. Current WHMIS and Violence Prevention.

2. Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

3. Able to organize work and operate related equipment.

4. Physically carry out the duties of the position.

Must be legally able to work in Canada.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Temporary
Contract length: 5 months
Part-time hours: 16 per week

**Salary**: $21.85 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Weekends as needed

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Nanaimo, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
