**Responsibilities**:

- Operates and maintains industrial natural gas boilers, hot water heaters, cooling towers, chillers and pumping systems in accordance with department utility distribution schedules;
- Performs maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment in the boiler/chiller plant including, but not limited to, pumps, chillers, boilers, air compressors, exhaust fans, and cooling towers.
- Ensure optimal and continuous operation of mechanical systems by performing routine inspections and maintenance, monitoring metering equipment and adjusting levels as necessary.
- Closely monitors and directs the work being performed by contractors and updates management on status of job and any discrepancies or problems, which may affect operations.
- Oversee the irrigation system, and all the components.
- Performs daily inspections of boiler/chiller plant systems and effectively documents all discrepancies.
- Communicate with supervisors in case of a major breakdown, Emergency tasks, abnormal readings, or issues in the water-cooled chillers.
- Monitor the spare parts, tools, and equipment required to execute the maintenance work.
- Maintain systems by scheduling regular inspections, cleanings, filter replacement and all other tasks necessary to keep all components performing optimally; identify and repair or replace malfunctioning components.
- Competent to operate water-cooled chillers, cooling towers and provide readings & records daily.
- Maintains maximum boiler efficiency by adjusting, reading, and interpreting gauges, indicators, and steam flow meters.
- Completes running logs two times a day of all chillers and boilers that are operating.
- Ensure safety by monitoring safety equipment, identifying potential issues and taking appropriate steps to suspend operations and repair the problem.
- Observes boiler plant operations through use of electronic or pneumatic controls, pressure gauges, and safety devices.
- Maintains oil heaters, pumps, oil storage facilities, and oil unloading equipment.
- Perform necessary repairs and replacements, obtain replacement parts and upgrade components as needed while staying within the budget.
- Supervises or performs the chemical testing and treatment of boiler feed water.
- Supervise team of assistant operators and mechanics by delegating repair, maintenance and monitoring tasks, scheduling jobs, providing appropriate instruction and giving constructive feedback on performance.
- Study to keep current on knowledge of all applicable safety laws and regulations in order to ensure full compliance at all times.
- Responsible for the operations, repairs, replacement and preventative maintenance of commercial HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, air handlers, fan coil units, controls and other building mechanical equipment.
- Create and enter properly documented records of inspections, maintenance routines and repairs.
- Sustain up-to-date knowledge of developments in relevant technology and make recommendations for overhauls and upgrades.

**Job Skills & Qualifications**

**_Required:_**
- Minimum 5 years of experience with complex systems and/or the Greenhouse sector
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented and highly safety-conscious

**_Preferred:_**
- Completed apprenticeship program.
- Proficiency in computerized maintenance management system
- Experience with Priva system
- Greenhouse knowledge
