**Overview**

The Human Resources Manager is a strategic and operational role that is responsible for driving the implementation of HDT’s Human Resources strategy while overseeing the end-to-end Human Resources service delivery for our Canadian Operation. The HR Manager will proactively lead a team of 5 HR professionals to deliver, execute and continuously improve our human resources strategies and services including: Recruitment, Employee Relations, Payroll, Talent Management, Training and Development, Health & Safety, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), and Environmental Procedures. In this leadership role, the HR Manager will successfully partner with the VP of HR, Plant Manager and local leaderships, and global HR leaders to enhance the business and people strategies of our organization.

**Main duties and responsibilities**:

- Supports Plant Manager and local leadership in leading the business and acting as an HR Business Partner
- Implements and follows-up on global and local HR strategies and policies in partnership with and support of the VP of HR
- Provides regular reports to HQ, the Plant Manager and local management, proactively informing about potential issues in the plant and offering solutions
- Manages, leads, and develops a team of HR professionals supporting the achievement of HR objectives and initiatives
- In partnership with cross-functional leaders, select, retain, and develop outstanding talent supporting strategic workforce planning
- Create an environment that values HDT’s global diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) initiatives
- Provide guidance and interpretation on the development and implementation of progressive HR policies and procedures, identify gaps, and implement changes necessary to cover risks within the workforce, current and future
- Embrace best practices and challenge the status quo to champion new initiatives and act as a catalyst for change that drives results in business performance
- Coach managers on performance management, employee development and pro-actively introduce talent management solutions to support leaders
- Manage and oversee the administration of employee benefits and compensation programs
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues and conduct effective, thorough, and objective fact-finding investigations
- Coordinate and monitor training and development activities to ensure all employees in the plant are meeting training needs and goals
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of Canadian legal requirements, reducing risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Provides guidance for leaders in employment matters, partnering with external consultants as needed/required
- In cooperation with the Plant and Finance Manager, prepare the HR budget, monitor execution, and accept responsibility of achievement of HR KPIs
- Prepare data driven metrics presentation and present at monthly HR and Operations Review meetings
- Measure success using key metrics and implement solutions when metric goals are not achieved
- Spend an important part of working time on the shopfloor regularly to maintain visibility and accessibility to all employees on all shifts.
- Initiates action to ensure awareness, compliance and prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to EHS and ISO14001:2015.
- Reports on the performance of EHS, including opportunities for improvement and overall performance to top Management, with consideration of environmental aspects
- Establishes, implements, and maintains EHS procedures and communication materials ensuring that all team members conform with the EHS requirements and understand all impacts and aspects of environmental management, their roles and responsibilities, and consequences of not following EHS
- Acts as management representative providing direction for EHS initiatives
- Supports internal, customer and third-party audits in personnel matters and represents the company on external events
