**Job Description**:
As part of the Child Development Services unit at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre the Preschool Speech and Language Program helps children and their families develop the skills needed to promote communication and emergent literacy.

RVH is the lead agency for this program and also provides services in satellite offices in Alliston, Barrie, Bradford, Collingwood, Midland and Orillia. The team consists of Speech-Language Pathologists and Communicative Disorder Assistants.

As the Patient Services Clerk you will be is responsible for reception, communication and clerical duties of the unit in accordance with the organizational philosophy, policies and standards of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.

**Education**:

- Medical Office Administration Certificate/Diploma or Equivalent Program essential

**Experience**:

- 2-3 years clerical experience in an outpatient/clinic setting or equivalent
- Experience with data entry and excel
- Work within interdisciplinary settings
- Experience with the pediatric population and families
- Familiarity with multi-site and off-site clinic work
- Experience working directly with physicians
- Experience within a setting with competing priorities and multiple demands
- Experience with process development and improvement as well as independent problem solving skills

**Competencies**:

- Travel to community sites
- Transportation of patients in wheelchairs and on stretchers
- Standing for extended periods
- Detail orientation and demonstration of critical thinking
- Computer literacy - Microsoft Office, Excel and Data Entry - essential
- Keyboarding skills - 50wpm - essential
- Current experience with Meditech, including registration, EMR, order entry and appointment scheduling required
- Current experience in the processing of physicians orders
- Demonstrated skill set in patient centered support and supporting a team with a variety of health care providers
