This posting is for one unionized contractual appointment. A Teaching Assistant is a Graduate Student employed to assist the Course Supervisor as a Teaching Assistant in a classroom environment. Teaching Assistant Positions are governed by the Collective Agreement between McGill University and the Association of Graduate Students Employed at McGill (AGSEM)

Course Title and Course Number:
EDEE 355 Classroom-based Evaluation.

Estimated Number of Positions: 2

Total Hours of Work per Term: 50 hours per TA (estimated)

Position Summary:
The Teaching Assistant will assist with the preparation of the course material, leading discussions, supervising individual projects, office hours, answering inquiries, providing feedback on the presentations. The TA will also support in class sessions and assess students' work related to course objectives.

Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the framework of the Quebec Education Program (QEP) is required- Must have formal or non-formal experience teaching at the K-12 levels in Quebec- Must have knowledge of self-designed assessments- Must have experience setting learning objectives and aligning assessment practices with objectives- Must be familiar with methods of collecting, interpreting, and reporting information for the purpose of making educational decisions- Students who have successfully completed a B.Ed. course or an MATL course in classroom assessment will be given priority- Knowledge of the implications of structural biases on assessments and on the systemic inequities reinforced by these structural biases an asset- Experience adapting assessments to meet the needs of diverse learners an asset- DISE students will be given priority.

- Please note that given the resumption of most in-person teaching activities, Teaching Assistants will be required on campus to perform their tasks in person. Should government restrictions prohibit the resumption of in-person teaching activities, courses will revert to remote teaching. In the event of such a change, Teaching Assistants will be advised as soon as possible. Teaching Assistants may be required to perform tasks suited to a remote/online teaching environment using a virtual learning platform [e.g., Zoom, WebEx] and the McGill myCourses learning management system._
