**Job description**

**Permanent Full Time** **Position: Forklift Operator**- Wage Range is Depending on Experience

This is a Union Position with a 3-month probation period

Responsible for accurately receiving, storing incoming shipments of Industrial Steel and Pipe. Handling/moving the steel from one processing area to another and setting up steel for processing. Accurately loading trucks for outgoing shipments. Rigging, packaging, strapping, and wrapping of loads. Keeping up with a fast paced, high production shop environment.

**Required Skills**:

- Must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods
- Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis
- Must be able to use hands and feet simultaneously and for repetitive movements
- The ability to follow directions with emphasis on safety is extremely important
- Must be able to meet deadlines with tight scheduling requirements
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
- Willing to pitch in and help on last minute projects or assist team members
- Must be able to shift priorities easily
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize throughout the workday while remaining focused and organized
- Demonstrated ability to be pro-active in thought and action
- Strong organizational skills
- Analytical with a strong attention to detail
- Effective interpersonal skills, including proven ability to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Comfortable with numbers and basic mathematical skills
- Has a demonstrated strong work ethic, and reliability

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Fluent in English, both written and verbal
- High School Degree or equivalent required
- Forklift operator certification with at least 5 years of experience
- Must have experience handling coated steel
- Experience handing large and/or long loads
- Must be able to use proper lifting techniques.
- Must have experience with use of overhead cranes and rigging
- Must have the ability to work overtime in support of the department needs
- Experience using a yard truck to haul, move and reverse wagons and trailers with and without loads is an asset, but we are willing to train

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $27.50-$30.00 per hour

Additional pay:

- Overtime pay

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime
- Weekends as needed
