There's a new restaurant coming to Truro

**Responsibilities**:
1. Assist the First Cook in preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, following standardized recipes and portion sizes.

2. Ensure food items are cooked and seasoned correctly to maintain quality and taste standards.

3. Assist in coordinating food preparation and cooking tasks, ensuring timely and efficient service.

4. Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment.

5. Assist in organizing and stocking ingredients and supplies as needed, ensuring inventory levels are maintained.

6. Collaborate with the culinary team to assist in menu planning and development, suggesting new ideas and dishes.

7. Assist in maintaining kitchen equipment and tools, reporting any malfunctions or issues to the appropriate personnel.

8. Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude, fostering a supportive team environment.

9. Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff members, providing guidance and support as needed.

10. Stay updated with industry trends and new cooking techniques, continuously expanding culinary knowledge and skills.

**Requirements**:
1. Previous experience as a Second Cook or similar role in a professional kitchen environment is preferred.

2. Solid understanding of cooking methods, techniques, and food safety practices.

3. Knowledge of recipe adherence and ability to follow instructions accurately.

4. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

5. Excellent attention to detail, ensuring dishes are prepared with precision and consistency.

6. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in the food service industry.

7. Ability to communicate effectively and work well within a team.

8. A passion for cooking and a desire to learn and grow in the culinary field.

Pay: $16.00-$18.00 per hour

**Experience**:

- Cooking: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Food Handler Certification (preferred)
