**Job Description**:
We are currently seeking a dedicated Yard Inspector to join our Ferrous Department and contribute to our mission of responsible metal recycling. The Yard Inspector will play a critical role in overseeing the inspection and quality control processes within the Ferrous Department. This position requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of ferrous metals, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The Yard Inspector will work closely with the operations team to ensure compliance with safety protocols, maintain the quality of incoming and outgoing ferrous materials, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the facility.

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct thorough inspections of incoming and outgoing ferrous materials to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications
- Identify and segregate non-conforming materials, such as contaminants or prohibited items, and take appropriate corrective actions
- Utilize appropriate tools and equipment to measure and verify the weight, dimensions, and composition of ferrous materials
- Collaborate with the operations team to coordinate the movement and storage of ferrous materials within the yard
- Monitor and maintain accurate records of inventory levels, material conditions, and inspection findings
- Communicate and report any deviations from quality standards, safety concerns, or operational issues to the supervisor or appropriate personnel
- Follow established safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
- Assist in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives and contribute to process optimization

**Qualifications**:

- Previous experience in a similar role within the metal recycling industry, specifically in ferrous materials inspection, is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of ferrous metals, their properties, and common contaminants or impurities
- Familiarity with relevant tools and equipment used for measurement and inspection, such as scales, callipers, magnet testers, etc.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to perform accurate and precise inspection
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting and moving heavy objects
- Proficiency in using computer systems and software for data entry and record keeping
- Effective communication skills to interact with team members, supervisors, and external stakeholders
- Commitment to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
