**Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia** is currently searching for a **Climate Strategist** to join our team in Burnaby

**WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING**
- Works strategically and collaboratively both internally within Engineers and Geoscientists BC and with external stakeholders and groups to support the development, implementation, and evaluation of climate change and sustainability strategies.
- Is relied upon to provide coordination and recommendation on strategic direction for Engineers and Geoscientists BC for the development of an organizational strategy for climate action.
- Reviews Engineers and Geoscientists BC operations, policies, and practices and identifies areas of action for including a climate and equity lens. Monitors the evolution of climate change-related science, policy, and technology landscape to support the development and rollout of new regulatory programs/initiatives related to climate action and sustainability.
- Builds and maintains relationships within the different sectors and industries of practice, to support the evolution of industries and areas of practice contributing to climate action and sustainability.
- Makes decisions/recommendations in liaising with other regulators, as required, and providing staff support on matters of practice overlap in relation to sustainability, climate change adaptation and mitigation.
- Provides support for the consultation process on climate change-related intentions papers, codes, standards, guidelines, and other public policy documents initiated by the public and private sectors that have implications for the practice of registrants.
- Provides input into developing professional practice resources and continuing education on the topic of climate change and sustainability.
- Manages advisory groups, task forces, and engagement work led by Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
- Other duties as assigned by management.

**WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE**
The successful applicant will possess the following:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geoscience, or similar.
- 6+ years relevant experience related to climate change strategy development.
- Strong knowledge and experience in the areas of GHG emissions reductions, climate change adaptation and sustainability are required.
- Detailed involvement in technical or scientific writing and/or editing.
- Detailed involvement managing engineering or geoscience projects.
- Strong communication skills; must be comfortable speaking in public and to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Experience working in the natural resources sector, though not required, is an asset to this position.
- Experience working in or with the provincial government, municipal government, or within another approving authority is considered an asset.
