Woodleigh Farms Ltd. is looking for a positive, skilled, and motivated individual for full-time help with a variety of projects and tasks on our farm for the summer months.

We have positions (2) available for post-secondary youth and students from May through August 2024

We have positions (2) available for secondary youth and students from July though August 2024.

Begin an exciting chapter where you can learn about the use of renewable resources, waste management, regenerative agriculture, soil health principles in a medium scale farm setting. Your role will include a variety of tasks related to our systems approach to promoting soil health, regenerating the soil, and growing the most sustainable crops possible.

Wage range for these positions is $16.50 to $19.00 per hour based on age, education, and experience related to any number of tasks/assignments available on our farm. There are three areas of focus we are seeking assistance with.

**Waste Management**:

- The processing of raw materials (with on-site machinery as well as physical labour)
- Ongoing maintenance and monitoring of stockpiles of materials (measuring temperatures, turning piles, adding amendments as required)
- Application of finished materials to agricultural lands
- Record keeping related to the organization’s approved Waste Management Site protocols
- Seeking additional opportunities for growth of this program

**Agronomy**:

- Crop rotation planning
- Overseeing the soil sampling and monitoring program (incl. nitrate and tissue sampling)
- Development strategies to improve soil health including the use of cover crops and additional beneficial practices
- Managing a variety of in-field trials and partnerships
- Analysis of technologies to be used in developing efficient and economically sustainable approaches to data collected at the field level
- Analysis of compost extract using laboratory equipment

**General Labour**:

- Lawn, yard, building maintenance
- Assisting with cropping and field activities (equipment operation, harvesting, firewood activities)

**For All Positions**:

- Physical strength and stamina needed to do farm work in any conditions when required
- Experience with safe and efficient operations of various machines and vehicles including tractors, skid-steers, trucks, excavator, dozer, towing trailers
- Ability to safely operate a chainsaw an asset
- Adaptability to changing priorities as factors like weather, unexpected problems or market considerations influence the workflow
- Resourcefulness, decisiveness, and the ability to overcome everyday challenges
- Practice of organization with project management skills. The ability to strategically manage a long list of projects and tasks is highly desirable
- Financial expertise. The ability to prepare budgets and to assess the economic sustainability of a variety of decisions related to this position.
