**Job Summary**
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide exceptional patient care and support the daily operations of our optometry practice. You will assist with various tasks, including patient interactions, managing electronic medical records, and supporting front desk activities. Your contributions will ensure a smooth and efficient experience for our patients.
**Duties**:
- Greet patients warmly and assist them with check-in and check-out processes.
- Perform preliminary tests on patients, including visual acuity assessments and history taking.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR).
- Provide information about optical products and services to patients, facilitating retail sales as needed.
- Assist in the fitting and dispensing of eyewear, ensuring proper measurements are taken.
- Schedule appointments and manage patient flow in the office efficiently.
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices and the use of prescribed medications or treatments.
- Support the optometrist during examinations by preparing instruments and ensuring a clean workspace.
- Handle administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, managing correspondence, and maintaining office supplies.
**Qualifications**:
- Previous experience in patient care or a medical office setting is preferred.
- **Previous experience with performing preliminary testing for the optometrist (auto refraction, lensometry, fundus photos, OCT etc.) will be considered an asset.**:
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to optometry is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients of all ages, including pediatrics.
- Retail sales experience is beneficial for assisting patients in selecting eyewear products.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- A positive attitude and commitment to providing excellent customer service are essential for success in this role.

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 - 38 per week
