Machine Maintenance Technician personnel specialize in the repair of press and bindery equipment. They will be responsible to perform skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of press and bindery equipment such as hard and soft cover booklines, folders, cutters, encasing machines, foil stampers, laminators, etc. They will also be responsible to analyze, troubleshoot, dismantle, align, assemble and adjust mechanical equipment and machinery to maintain it in efficient operating condition. Work assignments will be received in the form of verbal or written work orders, but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs.

**Job Requirements**:

- High School Diploma/GED/Mature Student Diploma
- Completion of a mechanical training course (industrial, diesel, auto or equivalent)
- Machine maintenance experience and training including PLC’s and servos
- Experience with routine maintenance operations
- Proven mechanical ability
- Effective English use and comprehension
- Digital Literacy (Microsoft Office, keyboarding skills)
- Essential Math skills
- Effective use of position related documents to accomplish job tasks
- Demonstrated organization, prioritizing, time and stress management skills
- Able to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Continuous learning/improvement mindset
- Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment while demonstrating self-management capabilities
- Able to deal with people diplomatically and professionally at all times
- Excellent manual dexterity
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
- Knowledge of workplace safety, safe lifting and handling procedures
- Call-ins and call backs required
- Experience with machine operation and repair an asset
- Previous forklift experience is an asset

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Deals with preventative and repair maintenance issues as needed to keep Friesens press and bindery equipment running
- Participates in the disassembly of old equipment and installation of new equipment primarily in the Press and Bindery departments
- Has access to all operator and machine manuals and to tech support numbers for all production equipment
- Records all maintenance and repairs for each piece of equipment for machine performance tracking purposes
- Maintains a central inventory of press and bindery related parts as needed and orders other parts as required for corporate press and bindery equipment. Major parts are ordered, and installation is scheduled as directed by the Facilities Manager with input from Operations Managers
- Promotes preventative maintenance throughout the corporate production departments through training and inspection
- Enlists the help of other maintenance staff to schedule projects with the appropriate manager
- Works on press and bindery maintenance and repair projects by prioritizing repairs with the Facilities Manager
- Is available for call-backs outside of regular working hours but is not required to remain in telephone contact as would be the case when on-call
- Call-backs will be paid as per Friesens callback policy
- Overtime and callback hours may be banked. Maximum allowable banked time is 48 hours as per Friesens Banked Time policy
- Friesens will supply tools. Arrangements will be made for use of specialty tools owned by maintenance personnel
