**About us**:
After School Life is seeking reliable, dynamic, and team-oriented Program Leaders to join our team. Our Program Leaders are responsible for leading and implementing our Martial Arts after-school programs for Middle or Elementary school.
**Job Summary**:
A part-time job is responsible for studying the provided curriculum and teaching the children for each given week. Strong time management skills are required as our coaches are expected to start and finish on time while also covering everything that is in the curriculum for that specific session. When teaching a class, maintaining class order is important, as it allows coaches to demonstrate the skills without distractions - resulting in the kids understanding better.
**Main Responsibilities**:
- Coach Martial Arts & Self-Defense to kids in Coquitlam, Port-Coquitlam, Port Moody (Tri-Cities Area)
- Teach different drills / practices to kids each week
- Friendly and respect school's staff / parents / students
- Strictly follow school's protocols and instructions
- Arrive on time (15 minutes before each session), flexible, good with kids, high commitment
- Distribute, collect, and maintain inventory of all sports equipment and classroom supplies
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions
- Maintain daily attendance records
**Qualifications and Requirements**:
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- A proven knowledge of Martial Arts with at least 2 year coaching experience (preferred)
- Knowledge of working with children, social and emotional learning, physical literacy, group management, behavior management, and counseling
- Experience in planning and leading activities for groups of children in a recreational setting
- Current criminal record check (or willing to consent)
**Hours of Work**:
This is a part-time contract position working weekday afternoon shifts (must be available between 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm), for up to 8 hours per week at schools in Tri-Cities area.
