The Finance Analyst, reporting to the Comptroller, holds a key role in analyzing and interpreting financial and statistical data for Seabird Island Band. Upholding the utmost confidentiality, this position ensures the smooth coordination of information dissemination from Contracts and Agreements to different departments within the organization. The role entails timely reporting in line with company policies, contractual obligations, and internal procedures, with a strong commitment to meeting established deadlines.

**WHAT YOU'LL DO**
- Analyzing and interpreting the Financial and statistical data and reports
- Work closely with Department and Program Managers and funding agencies
- Prepare documentation, reports, summaries, and record management relating to financial analysis
- Research relating to financial information
- Assist with a variety of financial planning initiatives
- Identify areas that require special attention
- Recommendations for improvements to systems or strategies
- Reconciliation procedures relating to analysis
- Printing financial reports from Accounting Software
- Assisting with budget, cost and variance analyses
- Ensuring proper allocation of overhead charges
- Assisting with preparation of operating budgets****:

- Full cycle booking for some ventures
- Preparation of year end working papers for annual audit
- Working with external auditors during the annual audit process
- Assist in the preparation of audited financial statements for the band
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements for all band entities
- Preparation of corporate tax returns for all band corporate entities
- Preparation of charitable tax return for Seabird Education Society
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your director, or the ED.

**WHAT YOU BRING**

**Education**
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, management, or a related field.
- Three years of increasingly responsible finance analysis experience (preferably in a Non-Profit or First Nations environment.
- Demonstrated ability to complete full cycle accounting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of applicable accounting technologies.
- Strong planning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze and processes information.
- Motivation to develop and maintain internal and external relationships.
- Commitment to ethical behavior with a willingness to adhere to all company policies and current financial legislation.
- Knowledge, respect, and understanding of Stó: lō culture, history, traditions, and language is considered an asset.
- Experience working with First Nations community is considered an asset
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to adhere to an Oath of Confidentiality agreement, Seabird Island Band Pol
