Dining Room Supervisor

**Job Summary**
As a Dining Room Supervisor, you will oversee the daily operations of the dining room, ensuring exceptional customer service and a pleasant dining experience for guests.
**Responsibilities**
- Establish, implement and enforce Food Service Department policies and procedures.
- Plan, organize, direct and supervise the activities of the Food Service Department to ensure the provision of high-quality food service.
- Assist in the planning of regular, therapeutic and alternate menus based on Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating, to the current resident population and special seasonal events.
- Assist staff in trying on and placing orders that comply with the uniform program. Ensure adherence to the uniform program.
- Supervise meal service to ensure appropriate portion control, plate presentation and resident acceptance.
- Participates in the hiring, performance management of front of house culinary employees
- Create the schedule and train all Front of House Culinary Service employees. Establish and monitor work flow, evaluate performance and production making necessary changes to maintain quality service.
- Assist in interviewing new residents regarding dietary restrictions, allergies and food preferences recording pertinent information in resident’s chart. Communicate and have record of this information readily available to all Food Service employees.
- Ensure sanitation regulations pertaining to food preparation and food premises are followed.
- Coordinate Dietary services with other departments as required.
- Participate in budget preparation.
- Be knowledgeable of and practice residence's fire and safety programs.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures.
- At the request of the Residents' Council, attends Residents' Council Meetings. Appropriate remedial action will be taken and a written report submitted to the Residents' Council for review at their next meeting.
- Maintain accurate records pertaining to each resident's nutritional care & attendance at meals
- Ensure all Public Health reports are communicated to staff and acted upon.
**Qualifications**
- Graduate of: i) An accredited Food Service Supervision/Nutrition Management program, or ii) Food & Beverage Management
- Current certificate in food handling training from a local board of health or an agency of the board of health or has recently successfully completed an equivalent food handler training program
- Previous employment in a health care/hospitality setting in a food service environment
- Demonstrated understanding of/empathy for the needs of seniors.
- Experience in hospitality service standards
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets and current nutritional standards relating to a geriatric population.
- Ability to direct and supervise others using written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with scheduling
- Familiar with computers and dietary management
- Willing to actively pursue personal and professional development.
- Working knowledge of Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), Sanitation Code, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Occupational Health and Safety, and Public Health Inspections.
- Demonstrated experience in working within a budget.
