The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

**Qualifications**:

- Active registration with relevant professional college (Ontario College of Nurses or CMLTO) required on or before start date
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) preferred
- Completion of an Introduction to Infection Control course (endorsed by IPAC Canada) preferred

**Skill, Ability and Experience**:

- Previous experience as a front line RN or MLT preferred
- Knowledge of epidemiological principles, statistics, microbiology, and infectious diseases required
- Advanced ability to integrate knowledge into clinical practice required
- Intermediate level proficiency using the MS Office Suite of products required
- Advanced ability to foster effective working relationships to work collaboratively with multiple groups required
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities required
- Effective leadership, interpersonal, teaching, and communication skills required
- Ability to anticipate and respond to changing or unexpected situations calmly and in a professional manner required
- Ability to analyse and problem-solve complex issues and to provide guidance to others required
- Experience with Meditech preferred

**Principal Duties**:

- Manage specific projects in Infection Control
- Conduct surveillance activities using defined indicators and criteria;monitor compliance with effective infection prevention and control policies and procedures, strategies, and standards
- Calculation and reporting on indicators as required.
- Serve as a knowledgeable and available resource on infection prevention and control standards and requirements to patients/families, staff, and physicians and provide consultation/problem solving to all departments on infection prevention and control issues
- Plan and deliver both formal and informal IPAC related education sessions to staff/physicians/volunteers.- Review new and updated IPAC guidelines & contribute to the development of IPAC policies and procedures
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Participate in outbreak management and investigations
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with programs to ensure infection prevention strategies are incorporated into their procedures and practices
- Participates in unit/department and hospital Quality Improvement initiatives
- Complete continuing education requirements
- Other related duties as assigned
