**Key Responsibilities**

Under the direction of the Manager i/c Strategic Services, the Crime Analyst is responsible for researching, collating and interpreting data through effective analytical processes, relating to crime patterns, trends and intelligence and within investigations and problem solving initiatives. This work assists decision makers in appropriately setting strategic directions while effectively allocating and deploying resources.

(1) Acts as a resource for evaluating, interpreting, analyzing, and researching crime trends and patterns with the ability to provide products to front line operations, investigative projects, special projects, intelligence files/projects, problem solving efforts, planning and research studies, and administrative and organizational planning.
(2) Act as a liaison between RPS and other law enforcement agencies, partners and analysts to gather information relevant to the criminal environment in Regina, including risk factors, movement of criminals, threat assessments to the community and identification of cross jurisdictional crimes.
(3) Submit updated crime information to management on crime patterns and risks in a timely manner;
(4) Prepares and delivers well-written reports, briefings and presentations in a timely manner;
(5) Develop and deliver presentations to police personnel, outside agencies and partners.
(6) Collects, evaluates, analyzes and monitors current and historical crime trends and patterns to forecast future crime events, and assists in developing corresponding crime reduction strategies.
(7) Develops profiles for persons (e.g., victims, suspects, gangs), incidents (e.g., vehicles, stolen property, MOs), geographical areas (e.g., beats, zones, city); and develops suspect link analysis to assist in allocation of resources and development of strategies.
(9) Integrates information using existing computerized data sources, intelligence gathered, interviews with officers and other relevant sources. Maintains, analyzes and interprets a variety of statistical data, historical trends and cases. Develops a variety of presentation material for use in investigations. Identify gaps in investigations that may provide leads to investigators.
(10) Applies statistical analysis to data collected to identify anomalies, draw conclusions and make inferences with respect to future crime activities.
(11) Maintain and monitor current developments in the field of analysis, technology and investigative methods related to crime analysis.
(12) May be required to testify in court.
(13) Other related duties as required.

**Competencies**

(1) Education: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, the social sciences or a Bachelor’s degree or graduate certificate in Forensic Science & Technology - Crime and intelligence Analysis with minimum two years of related analytical experience which must include applied research preferably in law enforcement or government OR Master’s degree in social sciences with strong emphasis on research methodology.
(2) Work Experience: Two years of related work experience in policing or public administration that includes autonomous research, statistical analysis, report writing, presentations or other similar work.
(3) Willing to attend and successfully complete Strategic Intelligence Analysis Course (Canadian Police College), Tactical Intelligence Analysis Course (Canadian Police College), ACIIS (Automated Criminal Intelligence Information System) and CPIC (Canadian Police Information Centre) Course.
(4) Computer Applications: A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with experience in using analytical, mapping and/or other similar software. The ability to utilize social media platforms and conduct a range of open-source searching is an asset. An understanding of internal police databases and the ability to work with analytical software products is a must.
(5) Communication: Through presentations and written work, demonstrates an effective and accurate ability to communicate findings, conclusions and recommendations.
(6) Research: Knowledge of sound research and analytical methodologies with a demonstrated ability to compile and analyze data through well-structured reports.
(7) Must be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
(8) Able to exercise independent judgement and action in executing work expectations and a wide variety of skill in data analysis, technology, telephone analysis, financial analysis, etc.
(9) Must be able to pass RCMP Security Screening and obtain Reliability status with the RCMP. (Canadian citizenship is required for this level of clearance.)

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $70,522.00-$88,218.00 per year
