**Job Title**:Theatre Technician Assistant/Trainee

**Salary**:$16.50 an hour

**Work Hours**:Part time, no minimum hours and are adjusted around incumbent’s availability. Hours are based on show scheduling.

**Job Summary**
Reporting to the Technical Supervisor, the Theatre Assistant/Trainee is responsible to assist the Theatre Technicians for hands-on technical stage work including lighting, audio, special effects, staging, loading in/out, and computer operating. You will work with users of the Theatre in the set-up, running, and take down of shows; ensure that all health and safety regulations are maintained as well as the security of the theatre building.
This is an entry level of job, the Theatre Assistant/Trainee will be provided training in operating the lighting board, audio system, and special effects**. **Evaluation every 6 months will be given to determine if the Theatre Assistant/Trainee is qualified to become a Theatre Technician with a salary raise.

**Qualifications**
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma, or relevant education qualification
- Must have some experience on live theatre relevant work.
- Experience in using a computerized lighting board, complex stage lighting systems, advanced professional audio reinforcement systems a definite asset.
- Good oral and written communication skills and exemplary customer service skills are required.
- The position will require a flexible schedule including evening and weekend work.

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: $16.00-$19.00 per hour
