The Authorizations and Compliance Division is responsible for the administration and management of regulatory programs and activities as well as responding to inquiries and concerns from the public related to departmental programs and environmental emergencies. The division consists of the Authorizations Branch, Regional Operations and Compliance Branch, Waste Diversion Branch and the Source and Surface Water Management Branch.

Department of Environment and Local Government provides integrated stewardship through planning and management of land use, zoning development and waste management issues. It ensures effective enforcement of, and compliance with, environmental legislation and regulations and provides effective consultation and liaison with municipal governments and Local Service Districts (LSD) on governance issues.

**What you will do?**
As a member of the Source and Surface Water Management team, you will be responsible for:

- Drafting and auditing Watercourse and Wetland Alteration (WAWA) permits;
- Supporting staff in DELG's Regional Offices, as required;
- Conducting extensive outreach with the public, wetland consultants, stakeholders, and other government agencies;
- Reviewing technical reports, mapping, proposed subdivision plans and rural plan amendments, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) registrations, Certificates of Approval to Construct and Operate, etc.; and,
- Providing recommendations on case-specific project reviews.

**Work environment**
- Office location: Fredericton and/or Saint John
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30 (office schedule)

**Essential qualifications**
University degree in a relevant field of study, such as biology, environmental management studies, etc., supplemented by five (5) years of environmental management experience, which must include experience working with wetland delineation and knowledge of the WAWA permit process.

**An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.**

**Asset Qualifications**
- Experience in conflict resolution;
- Experience conducting research;
- Wetland Ecosystem Services Protocol (WESP) training.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

**Wage**
- ** Pay Band 5**: $2,378 to $3,322 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week
