Edmonton, Canada Excel Society Full time

In this role you will assist clients by providing support through day-to-day implementation of life skills and household routines. This position will ensure that service delivery is carried out in accordance with the Excel Society’s Philosophy, Policies, and Procedures. All unregulated staff will be supported by regulated health care professionals in conjunction with supervision from their front line supervisor.

Specific Responsibilities:
1. Make timely and informed decisions that consider facts, goals, constraints, risk, Excel Society Values, and the Excel Advantage.
2. Following client care plan and delivering high quality client care.
3. Preparing meals and snacks for clients according to the meal plan
4. Assisting with meal planning and creating grocery lists.
5. Using Catalyst system while providing assistance with medications to clients on time according to Excel Policies and procedures and checking/receiving medication that arrive while on shift.
6. Encouraging and supporting client's efforts to maintain/enhance their health and wellness and assisting client with the maintenance of a clean, healthy, and safe home environment.
7. Respecting client’s rights to confidentiality, privacy, independence, well-being, and choice.
8. Maintaining clean and safe environment for clients and co-workers.
9. Performing general household duties and maintenance such cleaning, vacuuming, and laundry; and also outside maintenance such as shovelling snow, cutting grass, and gardening.
10. Maintaining/updating all required documentation such as scorecards, medical records, etc.
11. Assisting clients with hygiene and personal care.
12. Providing emotional support to clients and using de-escalation techniques to support clients.
13. To be aware of an implement as required Excel Society’s safety emergency response procedures.
14. To actively participate with Excel Society’s Health and Safety Program; including but not limited to: participating with hazard identification and assessments; worksite inspections and reporting noted safety concerns; and participating with hazard control efforts.
15. Supporting and assisting clients in maintaining appointments, activities, or programs.
16. Monitoring client wellbeing, physical and mental condition closely and reporting concerns to supervisor. Accompanying clients to appointments as necessary.
17. Liaising with families, guardians, professionals and other resource members of the client(s)’ support network, communicating relevant client information to other team members.

**Requirements**:
1. Health Care Aide certificate from an institution recognized by Alberta Health Services.
2. Maintain certification in First Aid & CPR.
3. Satisfactory current criminal record check.
4. Have a basic knowledge and understanding of persons with disabilities, personal care, and health care industry.
5. Good planning and organizational skills.
