At HTEC we’re unlocking the potential of hydrogen to reduce climate change and air pollution. Based in Vancouver, we design, build, and operate hydrogen fuel supply solutions to support the deployment of hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles. Every day, we’re delivering safe, reliable, convenient, sustainable, and low-cost hydrogen to customers and consumers. How, when, and where they need it.

We are looking for a technician to help build, operate, and service hydrogen fuel supply equipment and systems. The role is expected to be 70% field work, 10% building in HTEC’s shop and 20% in HTEC office for operation management and improvement initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:
Perform maintenance and servicing of hydrogen stations within the Lower Mainland, with occasional service required in Victoria and Kelowna, and occasional need to assist with project commissioning in various locations.
- Assembling and servicing hydrogen equipment
- Maintaining equipment such as chillers to cool our compressors and product
- Maintaining ventilation fans and intake grilles, to ensure fresh air in equipment rooms
- Conducting preventative maintenance procedures to ensure our assets continue to run smoothly
- Contributing to station monitoring and station reliability improvement
- Contributing to the design process of new equipment; your input would be vital to ensure continuous improvement
- Participate in the commissioning and start up of new equipment

**Requirements**:

- Successful completion of a Red Seal in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or a relevant technician diploma
- 5 + years experience as a technician
- Holder of a Class B Gas Fitter certificate is an asset
- Hands-on experience with installation/field servicing of mechanical systems, tubing, brazing, equipment controls, and diagnostics
- Knowledge in understanding Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), mechanical drawings, and electrical systems
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve
- Knowledge of safe work practices (PPE, working with flammable gas, rated zones, construction zones)
- Able to work independently and contribute to team effort when required
- Willing to be on call during some predetermined periods

Willing to learn: The process of delivering hydrogen is a relatively new field and there may be many concepts/practices novel to you. It is important to realize your abilities and limitations. We will be supportive and understanding in order to maintain a safe environment committed to promoting learning.

Assets:

- Experience working with high pressure gas systems (>500 bar (7250 psi)), Cryogenic equipment, piping and pressure vessels, or flammable gas
- Experience working with hydrogen, natural gas, propane, nitrogen and/or liquid nitrogen
- Able to document summaries, work orders, and status reports clearly
- Experience with basic wiring
- Knowledge of compressors, pressure vessels, valves, and/or seals
- Experience with Human Machine Interface (HMI) and controls software
- Experience with Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies
- Class 3 drivers license is a plus but not required
