Equine Reproduction Coordinator

The Reproduction Coordinator is a direct support to the reproduction department’s Veterinarians through the maintenance of department records and the coordinator of staff, clients, inventory, and products. The Reproduction Coordinator works closely with the Reproduction Receptionist.

Westhills EVS is located 10 minutes west of Stony Plain, Alberta and 30 minutes west of Edmonton and is easily accessed off of TransCanada Highway 16 on Range Road 25. You must have reliable transportation as we are not on a bus route.

**As the Reproductive Coordinator, your time will be spent as follows**:

- **30% Patient Handling** - Identify and source recipient mares as needed. Stallion handling and preparation for collections and cryopreservation. Daily mare management and medication administration. Assist DVM with diagnostic and treatment procedures.
- **30% Semen Coordination** - Work with Repro Reception to coordinate communication regarding incoming and outgoing semen. Handle semen straws and liquid nitrogen. Ensure semen in storage remains at correct temperature. Ensure semen straws are accurately accounted for. Organize courier and coordinate airport drop offs and pick ups.
- **20% Barn Coordination** - Develop and maintain barn staff schedules and time off requests, ensuring adequate coverage. Hire barn staff as required. Coordinate incoming and outgoing patients with Repro Reception and barn staff. Coordinate daily barn staff tasks, ensuring that feeding and cleaning standards are met. Plan/organize the day to maintain flow and efficiency for DVM and hospital staff.
- **15% Inventory Coordination **- Check pharmaceutical inventory and repro supplies daily to monitor levels and place restock orders as needed. Ensure inventory is clean, orderly and properly accounted for. Maintain controlled drug log.
- **5% Other** - Attend monthly staff meetings. Work alongside barn staff and vet assistants when needed to accomplish the day’s tasks.

This is a seasonal role from February to August annually with the possibility of signing on as a vet assistant in the off season depending on performance and off season work volume/staffing needs.
