Woodlawn Furniture Market Inc. is involved in offering premier, Canadian hand-crafted, solid wood furniture to the North American market. As primarily a Furniture Finisher and Sander, you will be expected to complete all facets of furniture finishing: staining, sealing, shading, glazing, top coating, painting and sanding. This is within our spray facility and sanding booth. Your primary duties will be in Stain cell.

Reports to: Production Manager; Operations Manager

Location: 197 Hanlon Creek Blvd, Guelph, ON

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Spraying, hand-rubbing ingredients (wiping) that are solvent based, including lacquers, on furniture
- Mix finishing ingredients to obtain desired shade, colour or consistency on various wood surfaces
- Disassemble items to prepare for finishing using hand tools, as well as orbital sanding
- Examine furniture to determine quality or damage and decide best method for repair of restoration
- Sanding furniture items within sprayed production cycle (scuff sand)
- Sand newly produced furniture with orbital sander or by hand to prepare for spraying/staining
- Fill, smooth cracks or imperfections; repair broken parts using epoxy, wood, adhesives and screws
- Remove old finishes, damaged parts using hand tools (orbital), stripping tools or sandpaper
- Maintain clean working environment within warehouse, spray booth and various equipment
- Load, unload and move products and materials by hand or with basic material handling equipment
- Operating power, pneumatic equipment (ie, Kremlin spray system)
- Assist colleagues or individually to complete other tasks within booth or warehouse if needed

**Requirements**:

- Familiarity or interest with furniture and/or wood products
- Comfortable working within a fast paced environment
- Operating spray gun apparatus
- Mixing, grading colours and consistency (ability to distinguish colours and variances)
- Attention to detail
- Good communication skills(to work with colleagues in determining best course of action)
- Positive attitude
- Takes instruction with good intention
- Conscientious
- Appreciation of the importance of good health and safety practices (wearing PPE, specifically half-faced respirator and hearing protection while in booth)
- Ability to lift larger items (individually and with assistance when required)
- Supports colleagues in a team-like atmosphere
- Steel toed foot ware
- Flexibility when needed (may include overtime to complete project)
