Scientist - Experimental Immunology (12-month contract)

What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will join the Experimental Immunology Team at our Amgen British Columbia site. The individual would be responsible for designing, generating, and communicating image-based screening data to support the development of new discovery research platforms.
- Develop a deep expertise in the live cell imaging and microscopy platforms on site.
- Design, conduct and report on in vitro imaging or microscopy-based studies.
- Contribute to the development of new experimental protocols that leverage high content and live cell imaging techniques.
- Contribute to the development and execution of existing discovery platforms by performing tissue processing, primary cell culture, and standard immunological assays.
The position would involve the optimization and execution of novel screens and assay development, live cell imaging and microscopy. Well-suited applicant will have broad laboratory training, deep scientific curiosity and a positive approach to working in a team-based research environment. This individual will also have a track record of creative problem-solving and enthusiasm for tackling difficult research challenges.

Basic Qualifications:
Master's degree and 3 years of scientific experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive hands-on experience with microscopy, live cell imaging and immunofluorescence platforms.
- Foundational understanding of immunology and cellular biology
- Expertise with aseptic cell culture techniques
- Experience with performing immunology assays including ELISA, ELISpots and flow cytometry.
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Desire to be a team player in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
- Demonstrated scientific analysis and problem-solving skills.
