**Job description**:
**Position Purpose summary**:
Provide upkeep, regular, and preventative maintenance of Edmonton Centre of Hope buildings. Assists with the completion of renovations & major repairs and ensures that all facilities and equipment meet Health and Safety Standards under the direction of the Facilities Manager.

**Accountabilities**:

- Ensure that all facilities are maintained in good repair meeting all Health and Safety regulations based on preventative maintenance schedule
- Perform repairs in an efficient and financially responsible manner
- Maintain all equipment in good working order
- Conduct scheduled inspections of building grounds and equipment including Boilers, HVAC, Washing Machine, Dryers, Equipment gauge readings, circulation pumps, etc. Complete weekly instrument tests and maintenance logs and complete annual shut down maintenance and inspections as per instructions.
- Follow up on all Maintenance Request Work Orders daily or as per schedule
- Complete all routine repairs
- Complete monthly preventative maintenance and safety checks ensuring that emergency lights are operational including fire door closures and stairwells are clear of debris, etc.
- Check and clean all lint catch baskets for all laundry equipment on a weekly basis
- Ensure all exhaust fans are operational and serviced regularly
- Complete repairs and renovations as qualified to do and directed
- Coordinate outside contractors as required and directed
- Perform all lifting tasks as required of supplies, boxes, pails, etc. of 25 lbs. or more by using proper procedures
- Ensure exterior of buildings are kept clean & tidy - this may include sweeping, snow shoveling, Lawn/yard garbage pick-up and window washing
- Complete maintenance and repairs at Divisional Headquarters as requested
- Ensure appearance is neat and tidy at all times and that approved uniform and PPE are worn
- Other related duties as assigned

**Qualifications and Education requirements**:

- *NOTE: For some jobs, you may be required to provide validated educational documentation._

**Education/Certifications**:

- High School Graduate
- Current Certification in First Aid/CPR
- WHMIS Training
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and Clean Driver’s Abstract
- Must be able to provide an acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check

**Experience**:

- Minimum 1 year building maintenance experience
- Basic knowledge of electrical, carpentry and plumbing works
- Respect and understanding of The Salvation Army - its mission, culture and values

**Required Skills/Knowledge**:

- Ability to read and comprehend instructional manuals for assembling and installation of equipment, furniture and performing preventative maintenance
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliability and punctuality are essential
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task few projects effectively
- Effective organizational and time management skills

DAYS and HOURS of work: 80 hours bi-weekly as scheduled by Manager with on-call required
