**PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS A MINISTRY REQUIREMENT THAT YOU HAVE BEEN A REGISTERED ECE FOR AT LEAST 2 YEARS TO BECOME A HOME VISITOR**
The role of the Wee Watch Home Visitor is essential in providing a quality private home day care service. The Home Visitor acts as a liaison between the Provider and the Agency while providing support and reassurance to parents that their child is receiving quality care.
The following is a general outline of the basic responsibilities of the Home Visitor.
**Monthly Home Visits**
Must visit each Provider’s home every calendar month to:
- observe and interact with the day care children to ensure they are safe, happy, and stimulated
- ensure all policies, procedures and regulations are met and follow up on deficiencies
- ensure a program is in place in the home and is appropriate for the child(ren's) age and stages of development (ie. schedule, toys, activities, nutrition, etc.)
- monitor the safety, the level of supervision, and the behaviour management techniques
- have a discussion with the Provider on policies, childcare issues, concerns, individual child, etc. ‑ to provide encouragement, general guidance, and support for the Provider
- complete the required forms (i.e. home visit reports, etc.)
**Quarterly Home Visits**
- completion of the initial safety check before a child starts with the Provider and quarterly checks from then on (using the Wee Watch Site Safety Checklist)
- complete a Ministry of Education Site Saftey checklist quarterly
- all of the above requirements for monthly visits
- annual review of the Rules and Regulations (includes a review of the Child Guidance Policy) with all Providers. An individual review of policies may be done more often if deemed necessary for certain Providers.
- be available to help deal with, and follow up on, Serious Occurrences/emergencies
- Provider support
- help plan workshops, play groups and special agency functions
- ake resources available ‑ books, articles, tapes, curriculum kits, etc.
**Parent Support**
- Make resources available
- Provide consultation or referrals at request of parent
**Professional Development**
- Home Visitors are expected to continue to develop their skills and expand their knowledge in the childcare field by attending workshops, conferences, reading and/or taking courses.
**Other Duties**:
- Provider Orientations
- Inventory pick up and drop off
- Miscellaneous ‑ as requested by Supervisor or Ministry Advisor
- Arrange backup care
