Pipelayers work from blueprints to determine the types and placement location of piping, values, and fixtures to be installed. They assemble, install, and maintain pipes to carry liquids.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Installation of waterlines, sewer, storm and catch basins to specific specifications
- Ability to direct hoe operator in excavating to correct elevations
- Change and repair pipe systems and do all types of pipe
- Measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes, joining sections together as necessary using elbows, “T” joints, or other couplings
- Check for leaks by forcing water or air through under pressure
- Use wrenches, reamers, drills, hammers, chisels, saws, gas torches, pipe cutters, benders, and threaders on site
- Aids in directing activities within the trench to ensure pipe is laid to the designed vertical and horizontal tolerances
- Monitors backfill of pipe bedding to ensure proper haunch support
- Ensure all installed materials are properly bedded
- Follow all legislative, and company safety policies
- Takes direction from the foreman
- Other duties as required

**Qualifications**:
**Education, Training and Certifications**
- Must have a valid Class 5 (or better) driver's license with clean drivers abstract
- Own transportation
- Completion of grade 12 or equivalent

**Work Experience**
Minimum of 2 years experience with a water and sewer crew

**Technical Skills**
Functional understanding of underground utilities crew tools and machines
