**StreetWorks Outreach Worker - Naloxone Trainer**

Full Time (35 hours per week)
Contract to March 31, 2025
Salary Range $46,977 to $55,310 per year - Plus Benefits

This role will be responsible for training people at risk of an opioid overdose in the Niagara Region on how to avoid, recognize and respond to an opioid overdose using naloxone. Relationship building within the community and workshop facilitation for various stakeholders will be required. The incumbent will also provide direct support services within the framework of the StreetWorks program. The program aims to reduce the transmission of HIV and other blood-borne infections among people who use substances or engage in other high-risk activities.

**Responsibilities**:

- Train people how to prevent, recognize and respond to an overdose using naloxone
- Facilitate presentations on harm reduction to community members and relevant stakeholders
- Distribute naloxone kits and keep proper records and inventory
- Supervise volunteers and students as necessary
- Provide verbal and written messages on substance use, HIV, STBBIs and high-risk behaviours
- Provide support, information and referrals to clients where appropriate
- Liaise with community and provincial groups as necessary
- Provide group and individual trainings
- Advocate for programs, supports and services on client's behalf
- Prepare reports for agency purposes and data for provincial reporting requirements

**Qualifications**:
The incumbent will have the skills gained through a university degree or college diploma with experience in the social services sector and/or lived expertise. They will have a valid Ontario G driver’s license in good standing with access to a reliable vehicle. They will have community education and outreach experience.
The incumbent will have knowledge, experience and demonstrated comfort in working within the harm reduction framework.

- Strong understanding of substance use, mental health, and the harm reduction philosophy
- Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills
- Written/oral and computer skills
- Public relations and community development skills
- Presentation skills
- Documenting, reporting and recording skills
- Ability to show initiative and work independently
- French language fluency is an asset
