Aevitas Inc. is currently looking to hire a Hazardous Materials Technician to work out of our Maple Ridge, BC facility. This is a full-time position with a total compensation plan including:

The successful applicant will have knowledge of hazardous materials, their handling and transport. Some of these responsibilities would include:

- TDG classification of hazardous wastes and documentation
- Coordination with other departments to ensure company compliance with permit limits and ensure facility conformance for chemical storage
- Facilitate consolidation of waste streams, coordination with others to manage and monitor inventory, maximize old inventory reduction and proper storage
- Determine waste characterization and classification and generate waste profiles.
- Ensure materials are packaged in proper containers, proper shipping documents are prepared and labelled in accordance with applicable regulations
- Accurately identify, track and report on non-compliant waste discrepancies
- Stage materials for shipping; consolidate load fragments; weigh and label materials; prepare necessary documentation
- Count, weigh and measure incoming and outgoing materials; compare identifying information against manifests, bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records; identify and communicate discrepancies
- Load and unload trucks, ensuring load is secured according to, or exceeding standards
- Operate material handling equipment as required including forklift, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies
- Attend at customer sites for pick up of various materials
- Working with sales in creating RFPs, creating quotations/work orders and cold calls
- Determine waste classifications, characterizations and special project information
- Assisting with technical expertise for drop off sales when required
- Working with sales in creating RFPs, creating quotations/work orders and cold calls
- Follow and comply with all environmental health and safety procedures and regulations
- Comply with all corporate policies, procedures, industry standards and legislative requirements

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education in chemistry, chemical technology or related industry discipline
- Minimum three (3) years related experience
- Strong knowledge of Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety legislation an asset
- Working knowledge of handling and disposal of hazardous waste
- Working knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and Regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel)
- Excellent communication skills, verbally and written
- Strong analytical skills and professional judgement
- Exceptional ability to work independently
- Experience in a related role an asset
