Lumber Manager

**Pembina West Co-op** is hiring a **Lumber Manager** on a permanent basis onsite in **Barrhead, AB**.

We are looking for someone to identify areas of financial and operational concern and correct these deficiencies by demonstrating day-to-day behaviours and actions that align with and strengthen our vision, mission, values, brand, and focus on safety.

**What you’ll do**:

- Provide direction to departments and enforce employee productivity targets for each department.
- Foster an atmosphere of employee engagement by sharing goals, plan and results consistently with entire team.
- Ensure all legislated training is completed by all employees as required.
- Provide leadership in the roll-out and implementation of new and existing programs.
- Work with team as well as Marketing and Media to coordinate annual Lumber Marketing plan.
- Work with team leads to implement operational improvements.
- Review financial statements, identify area of concern and develop strategies to correct.
- Ensure pricing is competitive with our trading areas.
- Assist in annual department budgeting process.

**Who you’ll work with**:
**The Team**:You will be a part of the Home Centre Team and work closely with the Home Centre Manager, who you will report to. This team strives to cultivate a culture of collaboration, accuracy, and safety.

**The Collaborators**:You will work in concert with the Home Centre Management Team as well as the Controller, Human Resources, and Loss Prevention Managers to ensure the optimal operation of the Lumber division.

**Who you are**:
You are looking for a career in Retail Store Operations and:

- Have 5+ years of relevant management experience (particularly in Lumber and Building Products or Retail).
- Have a Business Degree (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
- Have effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on employee engagement.
- Have excellent internal and external customer service skills with strong focus on Contractor sales.
- Can deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Are flexible with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse and changing environment.
- Have strong computer skills with a knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Have a high level of integrity and work ethic.
