Edmonton, Canada LRDL Engineering Full time

**Initial responsibilities of the Electrical EIT include**:
**1.** **Design**

a) Execute detailed designs, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, site layouts, control schematics, single line diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams, etc.

b) Design complete control panels by hand and using dedicated software.

c) Work closely with the drafting department to create electrical drawing packages.

d) Perform electrical calculations such as: circuit loading, breaker sizing, power distribution, etc.

e) Interact with other disciplines, such as mechanical and structural, to achieve an integrated design.

**2.** **Procurement**

a) Specify electrical equipment, instrumentation, and devices based on project requirements.

b) Locate suitable suppliers and obtain competitive quotations.

c) Evaluate multiple options based on technical, financial, and delivery considerations.

d) Execute purchase orders and follow up on delivery.

e) Inspect received products and coordinate warranty repairs, replacement, or returns, as applicable.

**3.** **Construction and commissioning**

a) Schedule and coordinate site installation with contractors.

b) Facilitate the job tendering process and administer contracts where needed.

c) Provide construction engineering support services and address site issues.

d) Work with electricians and drafting department to maintain accurate record drawings.

e) Carry out on-site start-up and commissioning, including programming, commissioning checklists, client training, and signoffs.

f) Follow safe work practices and fill out and maintain proper safety documentation.

**4.** **Troubleshooting and repairs**

a) Program and troubleshoot PLC code, HMI screens, CNC systems, building automation systems, etc.

b) Diagnose and repair electrical devices sent back from the field.

c) Perform IT-related tasks, such as computer repairs, networking, and troubleshooting.

d) Actively participate in remote troubleshooting of site equipment and systems via telephone, cell modem, and other VPN techniques.

**5.** **General engineering support, administration, and shop tasks**

a) Maintain, design, and modify an in-house PLC/HMI testing and training centre.

b) Support engineers in miscellaneous tasks such as drafting, modelling, ordering of parts, shipping/receiving, and IT-related tasks.

c) Ensure time sheets, invoices, receipts, expenses, and other administrative forms are filled out correctly and submitted on time.

d) Create and maintain office and shop procedures and forms.

e) Assist other departments and participate in in-house projects as required.

**Minimum Qualifications & Requirements**:

- Possess an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university in Canada.
- Registered as a member-in-training with APEGA in good standing.
- 1-3 years relevant professional experience. Co-op experience is an asset.
- In depth comprehension of fundamental technical concepts, such as three phase power, PLCs, HMIs, MCCs, VFDs, circuit breakers/fuses, field instrumentation, control systems, electrical distribution systems, and grounding and bonding.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, including AutoCAD Electrical, is an asset.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Windows & Office; knowledge of Linux and databases is an asset.
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairing electronics and instruments is an asset.
- Committed to professionalism, safety, and being a team player.
- Willing and able to travel within Canada, USA, and Mexico (possess a valid passport and Class 5 operator's license).
- Fluency in Spanish would be an asset.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $68,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
