Under the supervision of the Casework Lead, the Remote Caseworker is primarily responsible for processing and administering all aspects of remote casework including Intake, Needs Assessment and Casework. The Remote Caseworker will provide support, information, education, and referrals to remote clients while developing a relationship that nurtures client independence. The Remote Caseworker will service the clients in BC and Alberta and other west coast provinces as required.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

**CASEWORK MANAGEMENT**
- Intake & Needs Assessments
- Screen potential residents for intake suitability when required by Caseworker Supervisor
- Participate in the selection and admission of clients to appropriate program
- Review client background information, interview clients to obtain case history and prepare intake reports
- Assess client's immediate needs and document action plan on CRM
- Inform client(s) of various options and resources that are available to meet their needs
- Guide client(s) in developing and implementing a plan of action during the next 6 months
- Provide necessary support and assistance for the client to ensure the action plan is achieved
- Referrals
- Gather potential resources for west coast clientele
- Provide informed referrals to clients based on client-specific needs and support during the connection phase
- Close Case
- Encourage and support clients to obtain client goals such as sustainable housing, employment, education, or finance needs.
- Assist client in accessing various community or governmental programs regarding housing, welfare, childcare, child benefits, disability, English Language training, etc.

**CLIENT SUPPORT AND DEVELOPMENT**
- Communicate and follow up with client(s) regularly to assess their progress, give emotional support and encouragement, help with goal setting and problem-solving supports
- Advocate for and represent the client's needs with other community/governmental agencies
- Maintain a daily written log regarding client activity

**REPORTING**
- Provide regular updates regarding client progress with casework supervisor
- Maintain case notes, resident records, documents, forms, and statistical information
- Attend meetings for residents moving out of the home to discuss transition to remote caseworker with the current on-site caseworker and ensure thorough handover to the new program/staff.
- Participate in monthly casework meetings and national staff meetings as required.

**AD HOC**
- Assist in conducting intakes on a regular and as-need basis for various city teams

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES**
- Degree or Diploma in a related human/social service field such as Social Work or Child and Youth Care Work and one (1) year recent related experience. Or an equivalent combination of relevant training, education, and experience.
- Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, and legislation
- Current First Aid/CPR Certificate required
- Clear Criminal and Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance
- Be aware of personal triggers and be willing to work on personal wellness
- Awareness of stresses of position and follow an action plan for self-care
- Respect clients right to their own values, beliefs, culture and choice
- Use empathy and a client-centred approach when working with the women and children
- Understanding of the cycle of abuse, the misuse and abuse of power and control
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people from different cultural backgrounds
