**Harbour Master**:

The Harbour Master is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Ladner Harbour. Delta is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and reliable individual who works independently with high degree of integrity and professionalism.

Reporting to Delta’s Lands Manager, the applicant brings a diverse skill set to fulfill administrative, maintenance, and security needs for the Ladner Harbour.

**Responsibilities**
- Entering into moorage contracts with commercial and recreational vessel owners, regularly following up as required to ensure insurance, agreements, and fees are current
- Completing daily inspections of the premises to ensure compliance with harbour rules and regulations including the boating facilities, washrooms, net sheds, parking lot, public wharf, and park lands
- Daily review of electricity usage by vessel owners
- Completing various maintenance, cleaning, and other care-taking duties as required
- Holds regular office hours from Tuesday to Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm
- Liaise with the Small Craft Harbour Branch and maintain connections with fellow Harbour Masters to inform best practices in operating a commercial and recreational harbour
- Identify areas for improvement and submit recommendations to the Lands Manager
- For larger or more specialized projects, obtain multiple quotes, coordinate and oversee the work of sub-contractors working on site

**Skills and Competency Requirements**
- Problem solving, critical thinking, and collaboration skills
- Effective organizational, planning, priority, and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and diplomatically, influence and deal effectively with conflict
- Ability to work standard and occasionally non-standard hours as required including extended hours, weekends, and holidays as per the position’s requirements
- Ability to work in various types of weather conditions as the need arises
- Proficient computer skills with Microsoft 365 products (Word, Excel, Outlook)

**Education, Experience, and Technical Knowledge**
- Knowledge of navigation and maritime safety legislation and current best practices
- A minimum of five years of direct experience working in a marine management or operational environment
- Familiarity with relevant marine legislation and dealing with sunken, grounded or abandoned vessels and vessel pollution
- A Class 5 Driver’s Licence with a clean driving record is required

**Benefits**
Averaging 40 hours per week, an annual salary of $60,000 will be provided along with extended health and dental benefits. The Harbour Master will be required to live on site at the Ladner Harbour in a waterfront 1 bedroom apartment during their tenure ($1,800 per month rental value, free of charge).
